PBTS Receives Government Recognition

PBTS was granted recognition by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) on two masters programs, the Master of Arts in Theology and the Master in Pastoral Ministry last December 2023 through resolution 755-2023.

 

The plans for government recognition began when the PBTS Board of Trustees approved the application of two degrees for recognition on December 12, 2022. PBTS president Dr. Armand Canoy then appointed Dr. Francis Samdao and Dr. Michael Janapin as official liaisons to CHED. By January 2023, PBTS began compiling necessary documents for application through the help of Ms. Ryanne Leal. Choi Banacia was also recruited to provide additional training in accordance with CHED standards. By June 1, 2023, Samdao, Janapin, Canoy, along with Trustees chairperson, Ms.Theresa Yambao submitted the application documents to CHED’s main office. 

 

On June 30, 2023, a Regional Quality Assessment Team (RQAT) conducted an assessment of PBTS compliance. A Technical Committee for Christian Formation also conducted an assessment of PBTS compliance on July 10, 2023. The Technical Committee was composed of Dr. Anacleto Carag, Dr. Theresa Lua, Dr. Timoteo Gener. After the assessment from the technical committee, PBTS complied with various amendments recommended by the committee.

 

On December 18, 2023, the Commission En Banc met, which included discussion on the application for recognition from PBTS. By January 12, 2024, the regional office of CHED received the official notice of recognition of the two degrees. By March 16, 2024, the office of the president officially received the copies of recognition through CHED representatives Dr. Patricio Dinamling, Dr. Bernadette Pal-ec, Ms. Melody Labawig, Ms. Menzie Kuengan.

 

These two programs will be offered beginning on August 2024, academic year 2024-25.
